Redd Reef Offshore Open Expands to Full Offshore Format in 2025
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Redd Reef Offshore Open, a growing staple in Charleston’s sportfishing scene, is officially expanding beyond its dolphin-only format in 2025 to become a full-scale offshore tournament.
Originally established in 2021, the tournament has drawn anglers from across the region to compete off the coast of South Carolina. With the shift to a broader offshore format, participants will now have the opportunity to target a wider range of gamefish, creating a more dynamic and competitive experience.
“This expansion reflects the direction our tournament has been heading,” said tournament president Jeff Mitchell. “We’re seeing more boats, more interest, and this change opens the door to even more anglers who are passionate about offshore fishing.”
The 2025 Redd Reef Offshore Open will be held June 25–28, with fishing days determined by weather and conditions. An awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 29 at noon at Ripley Light Yacht Club. The tournament will remain a no-kill event—except for swordfish—and continue to emphasize sustainability and conservation.
All proceeds support the South Carolina Memorial Reef, promoting marine habitat development along the Charleston coast.
