  • Boundaries

    Fishing must occur within South Carolina waters, specifically between Little River (North) and Savannah River (South). Boats must leave and return from South Carolina waters without entering other states.

  • Captain's Meeting

    At least one representative from each vessel MUST attend the mandatory Captain’s Meeting on Wed., June 25, 2025. All participants are responsible for understanding and following the tournament rules, including any changes announced during the meeting.

  • Disqualification

    Disqualification may occur if any boat, captain, or crew member violates tournament rules or uses prohibited methods. Free gaffing is not allowed.

  • Forms

  • Gamefish

    Winners determined by weight; ties go to the first fish weighed. Fish must be fresh and suitable for human consumption.

  • Insurance

    It is the vessel’s owners’ responsibility to have in place or obtain adequate liability insurance to cover each crew member, participant, guest, and others if an incident occurs involving others not on the vessel.

  • Passing Fish

    A fish may be transferred to another boat due to mechanical failure or injury only if reported and approved by a committee boat or tournament official.

  • Polygraph

    May be administered at the committee’s discretion. Refusal to take a test results in disqualification. Results are final.

  • Prize Pay Out

    Checks are payable to the person/entity listed on the registration form. An SSN or Tax ID is required. Prizes are awarded three days after the tournament. View our Divisions & Payout page for details.

  • Protests

    Must be submitted in writing. Time and date deadline to be determined. $100 protest fee. Rules Committee may retain questionable fish; refusal results in disqualification.

  • Registration

    All boats must be registered with the Tournament Committee and entry fee paid to qualify for prizes and trophies. Boat substitutions are allowed but must be registered before fishing.
    Deadline: Registration closes at 8 p.m. on Wed. June 25, 2025. No exceptions. Registration is managed through Reel Time Apps.

  • Regulations Compliance

    All vessels and participants must comply with South Carolina and federal laws regarding licenses, gear, size limits and bag limits. Vessels must be HMS compliant. For more information, visit NOAA’s website.

  • Rods & Reels

    Rod and reel, hook and line only. Prohibited: handlines, ropes, shooting, harpooning, lancing, and transferring participants between boats.

    Drones are not allowed.

    All state and federal regulations apply.

  • Rule Violation

    Violations may result in disqualification. All decisions are at the sole discretion of the Rules Committee and/or Board of Directors. All decisions are final.

  • Weather & Fish Days

    Small Craft Advisory call made at 5 a.m. each fish day.

    Declare fish day via “Fish On by Reel Time Apps” by 9 p.m. the night before.

    You may undeclare by 6:59 a.m. via email to fishreddroof@gmail.com as long as no lines are in.

    If all three days are called off due to weather, the tournament is canceled.

  • Weigh-In

    Fish must be weighed the day caught between 4–7 p.m.

    Must be checked in with the Weigh Master in person by 7 p.m. at one of four weigh stations:

    Locations: Toler’s Cove Marina, Edisto Marina, Ripley Light Yacht Club, Bohicket Marina

    The Weigh Master may refuse any fish at their discretion.

  • Weight Altercation

    Tampering with the weight of fish (e.g., inserting weights, water, ice) will result in disqualification. IGFA rules apply for mutilated fish. The committee may cut open fish for inspection.

  • Withdrawal

    No refund of entry fee if a boat chooses not to fish.
